Home School Legal Defense Association
CHECC encourages
all of its members to join the Home School Legal Defense Association.
Here is a brief synopsis of HSLDA, condensed from their website.
The Home School
Legal Defense Association is a nonprofit advocacy organization established
to defend and advance the constitutional right of parents to direct the
education of their children and to protect family freedoms. Through annual
memberships, HSLDA is tens of thousands of families united in service
together, providing a strong voice when and where needed.
HSLDA represents
homeschoolers legally in many court cases each year. Also, each year
HSLDA addresses individual family concerns through negotiating with local
school officials, and they represent member families if cases should go to
court. HSLDA also lobbies on Capitol Hill and in state legislatures,
seeking laws which are favorable to homeschool families, and opposing laws
which endanger the rights of parents to homeschool.
Although HSLDA
charges an annual fee of $115 ($95 if you qualify for their discount), we
have found it to be worth the investment. You may learn more about
HSLDA at their website.
HSLDA members are
advised that they should use the Notification Form supplied by HSLDA.
See the Notification Form page for more details.
